MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The Madison Fire Department responded to a call of a fire in a home’s basement on Sunday afternoon, officials said.
The call came in around 3:40 p.m. from the 3400 block of Portage Road on the city’s north side.
Initially, it was believed that someone may still be inside the home when the call was placed. However, when crews arrived, they found that no one was home, but continued to search the residence until they were able to confirm via phone that the homeowner was not at the house.
MFD officials say that crews were able to keep the fire in a single room and quickly put out the fire. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
