At 4:15 a.m. on January 26, a fire broke out at the Fruit Tree warehouse located in M. Kelaage. The fire originated on the first floor and was successfully extinguished by 5:30 a.m. The fire severely damaged the three-story building, with initial estimates placing losses at $500,000. Following the incident, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) acted swiftly to identify households in need of humanitarian assistance.

Due to the smoke and structural damage caused by the fire, 33 individuals required temporary shelter, including 14 Maldivians and 19 foreigners. NDMA has arranged shelter and food for 14 Maldivians and 8 foreigners. One foreign family sought shelter independently, while 11 foreigners were assisted by their employers.

This incident highlights the limitations of traditional fire detection systems, which often alert only after smoke or flames appear. Planck Vision TNC thermal imaging cameras can detect abnormal heat conditions before a fire occurs, providing critical early warnings. This effectively minimizes casualties and financial losses, offering essential protection for businesses and communities.
