On Thursday, January 4, 2025, a fire broke out at the substation switch of Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar in Seremban, leading to significant operational disruptions. The blaze, which caused about 40% damage to the hospital’s generator room, was triggered by a truck carrying construction materials that became entangled with an electrical cable, causing a pole to break. As a result, the Emergency and Trauma Department (ETD) experienced overcrowding, with patients unable to be admitted due to full wards.

On Thursday, January 4, 2025, a fire broke out at the substation switch of Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar in Seremban, which severely disrupted the hospital’s operations. The fire started at approximately 12:48 PM and was swiftly extinguished by the Seremban Fire and Rescue Department by 1:35 PM. The cause of the fire was traced back to a truck carrying construction material, which got stuck on an electrical cable, causing a cable pole to break and trigger the fire.

The fire caused about 40% damage to the hospital’s generator room, which is crucial for supplying electricity to the facility. The estimated loss from the incident is RM500,000. Due to this disruption, the Emergency and Trauma Department (ETD) at the hospital faced significant overcrowding, as the high volume of patients was compounded by a lack of available beds. Many patients who sought care at the ETD were unable to be admitted as the wards were already full, creating a tense situation.

To manage the crisis, the hospital set up a temporary discharge lounge, which could accommodate six beds, along with a holding bay for 12 beds. This was aimed at easing the burden on the emergency department and providing patients with some relief. Additionally, hospital staff were mobilized, and ETD shifts were closely monitored to prioritize patients based on the severity of their conditions. Those with lighter symptoms were directed to district health hospitals, allowing the ETD to focus on more critical cases.

The fire incident highlights the importance of early fire detection and the ability to respond swiftly to emergencies. Planck Vision Systems thermal imaging cameras offer a solution for such situations. Their 24/7 monitoring system provides continuous data collection and analysis, using software to detect trends and anomalies.

By deploying fixed mount or pan/tilt drive cameras, large areas such as substations can be efficiently surveyed with high-resolution thermal images. These cameras ensure that critical issues, such as potential electrical failures, are identified early, preventing costly disruptions like the one at Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar.

With Planck Vision Systems, facilities can be assured that they are always prepared for unexpected challenges, keeping operations running smoothly and safely.
