The explosion led to a widespread power outage affecting over 3,000 customers. The City of Tshwane Emergency Services received reports of the fire at approximately 8:45 a.m. Firefighters arrived on the scene and found the transformer ablaze. Due to the complexity of the situation and safety concerns, an inline foam system was employed to extinguish the fire. By 11:00 a.m., the fire was under control, thanks to additional resources from Silverton and Mamelodi Fire Stations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Power was initially restored by redirecting electricity from other substations. Enemalta reported that while most areas had their power restored by early afternoon, around 309 customers remained without electricity. By 5:30 p.m., power was fully restored to all households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
