A devastating fire broke out on the evening of February 11, 2025, at the FOREMART (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. factory located in Sangkat Prey Sa, Dangkor district, Phnom Penh. The fire started around 6:30 p.m., and although emergency services and local firefighters responded promptly, the blaze still caused significant damage to the factory.

The factory, which employs a total of 466 workers (310 of whom are female), was partially damaged by the fire. Fortunately, no casualties were reported among the workers, thanks to the rapid response of firefighting teams. However, the destruction of production equipment and other assets resulted in an estimated financial loss of $1 million. The fire posed a serious threat not only to the factory but also to nearby areas, as firefighters worked tirelessly to prevent the fire from spreading further.

Minister Heng Sour, who visited the site on the morning of February 12, expressed his regret and appreciation for the prompt efforts of the authorities, firefighters, and leadership in controlling the fire. He emphasized the importance of quick intervention and the role of competent authorities in minimizing the destruction.

This tragic fire incident highlights the urgent need for advanced fire detection systems. Traditional fire detection methods can often be too slow to prevent significant damage and loss of life.
