On the afternoon of November 2, 2024, a large-scale fire broke out at a gas factory in Kabul’s Qala-e-Haidar Khan area, in the western part of the city. The fire engulfed the factory, causing severe damage to both the structure and the materials inside. Tragically, six individuals lost their lives, and nine others were injured in the incident.

The local fire department responded promptly to the scene, deploying multiple fire trucks to fight the blaze. According to Noorullah Ansar, head of the Natural Disasters and Firefighting Department, the firefighters managed to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby markets, which could have exacerbated the situation.

At present, the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, but authorities are working diligently to determine how it started. While the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, preliminary estimates suggest that the economic loss caused by the fire could be as high as $2 million, including both the property and equipment destroyed.
