On November 19, 2024, a significant fire broke out at a one-story warehouse located on Church Road in Cahokia Heights, St. Clair County, Illinois, around 11 p.m. The fire quickly spread through the roof of the building, but thanks to the efforts of 45 firefighters, they were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring structures.

The warehouse, which was used for storage of plywood and tires, suffered extensive damage. Early estimates put the total loss at $1.5 million, which includes both structural damage and the value of the materials destroyed inside the building.
