Ward 97 councillor, Andr\u00e9 Beetge, confirmed that the fire began in the main distributor of the substation, which is responsible for distributing electricity to the surrounding areas. The explosion and subsequent fire left the entire region without power, affecting thousands of households and businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to the disaster, both the fire department and the electricity department mobilized quickly to address the situation. Firefighters arrived on the scene to extinguish the flames, while the electricity department began efforts to restore the power supply. The situation has caused significant disruption in the local community, with many residents left without essential services for several hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although emergency services acted swiftly to contain the fire, the damage to the substation’s infrastructure was significant.
