City Power says its technicians have completed the damage assessments at the Cydna substation in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

City Power says its technicians have completed the damage assessments at the Cydna substation in Johannesburg.
A fire tore through the substation on Thursday, leaving areas such as Melrose, Highlands North, Bramley, Illovo, Killarney, and Hyde Park without electricity.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said that during the assessment, it was discovered that protection cables were damaged.<\/p>\n

\u201cPreliminary indications suggest vandalism linked to attempted cable theft as a possible cause, with investigations still ongoing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mangena added that large parts of Melrose, Killarney, and Hyde Park remained without power on Friday due to technicians’ restoration efforts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

All power is expected to be restored by six o\u2019clock on Friday evening.\u00a0
