LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo –\u00a0The Lee’s Summit Police Department is set to open its newly remodeled South Substation.\u00a0
A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Thursday at 4:30 pm to open the facility.\u00a0 The event will feature keynote speakers and tours of the new building.\u00a0 All residents and guests are encouraged to attend.\u00a0
Construction crews have been working to repurpose and expand Lee’s Summit Fire Station Number 5 to serve as the South Substation.\u00a0 The project was funded through a no tax increase bond issue passed by Lee’s Summit voters in April 2023.\u00a0
The substation will serve as a hub for the department’s IMPACT unit and school resource officers.\u00a0 Patrol officers will also use the new space to write incident reports and meet with community members.\u00a0 Work was done to transform the former fire bay into police office space.\u00a0 The building also features a break room, exercise room, and staff entry.\u00a0\u00a0
