The fire sent out <strong>blue flashes and a fiery explosion<\/strong> into the sky, temporarily <strong>cutting power<\/strong> to nearby homes.<br \/>Fire crews from <strong>Cal Fire<\/strong>, the Tehama County Fire Department, and the <strong>Red Bluff City Fire Department<\/strong> quickly responded. \u201cThere was active fire on arrival,\u201d said <strong>Kevin Colburn<\/strong>, spokesperson for Cal Fire\u2019s Tehama-Glenn Unit. \u201cThe substation fire triggered a power outage, and the cause is still under investigation,\u201d added Culburn.<br \/>Bystander photos captured bright purple and blue flashes moments before flames erupted. Resident Lalo Diaz described the moment: \u201cWe saw a blue light, the power flickered, and then we heard a loud boom. My dad and I went outside and saw a huge fireball\u2014it was terrifying.\u201d<br \/>Colburn noted that while substations may not look flammable, internal electrical components, including transformers, contain materials that can burn intensely during malfunctions.<br \/>Though not the city\u2019s main power station, the substation\u2019s failure caused a <strong>significant disruption<\/strong>.
