MINEOLA, Texas (KLTV) – More details have been released after crews responded to a fire at La Waffalata in Mineola on Saturday.
Mineola Fire Marshal David Madsen said the incident was a result of roofing work taking place at 124 E. Broad Street, which is the address for La Waffalata.
The Mineola Fire Department was called out at about 4:58 p.m., and when they arrived responders reported smoke coming from the roof.
Firefighters cut holes in the roof and ceiling within to access the attic, Madsen said. He said the fire was brought under control in about 40 minutes and was contained to the attic area. However, there was also damage to the interior due to the firefighting efforts.
Quitman, Alba and Hainseville Fire Departments assisted in response, and Madsen said there were no injuries.
