The fire, which started just before 2 p.m., engulfed a large drive shed at the back of the facility. About 50 firefighters worked to control the blaze, which caused significant damage, including a roof collapse. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Estimated damage from the fire is around $250,000.

On Wednesday, January 7, 2025, a large fire broke out at the Concrete Systems property on Centre Street in Petrolia. The blaze started just before 2 p.m. in a large drive shed located at the back of the building. Tim Williams, education officer for the Petrolia\/North Enniskillen Fire Department, reported that there were workers inside the building at the time of the fire. Fortunately, all personnel managed to evacuate the premises safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As soon as the fire broke out, emergency response teams from Petrolia, Plympton-Wyoming, and St Clair Township rushed to the scene. A total of about 50 firefighters were deployed to control the fire. St Clair Fire arrived with a second ladder truck to join Petrolia\u2019s Tower 13, attacking the fire from above. As night fell, the roof of the building collapsed, and a backhoe was brought in to assist in dismantling parts of the structure, allowing firefighters to access and tackle the remaining hot spots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smoke and steam from the fire drifted south over Petrolia, but luckily, no injuries were reported. The fire was under control by the evening, but the damage was extensive. The estimated cost of the damage caused by the fire is approximately $250,000, including the destruction of the building’s roof and significant structural damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cause of the fire remains undetermined, and an investigation is ongoing. The incident highlights the importance of early fire detection in industrial settings, especially when large amounts of materials, such as metal or flammable substances, are stored on-site.
