In a fire at a distribution center on Northgate Commerce Parkway, Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded promptly after receiving reports just before 1:20 AM on Tuesday. Upon arrival, crews discovered flames coming from a recycling compactor at the rear of a multi-story warehouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With moderate smoke conditions inside, employees were ordered to evacuate. Investigations revealed the fire originated from a large auger within the compactor, used to compress cardboard boxes, leading to the ignition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fire crews managed to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading throughout the warehouse, and brought the situation under control by 1:53 AM. Employees were able to return safely by 4 AM after a ventilation check. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
