Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rochester Firefighters responded to a call at a Rochester Public Utilities (RPU) substation late Sunday night.
A news release issued by the fire department says crews were dispatched to the blaze around 11 p.m.
Responding firefighters found heavy smoke coming from a large structure containing a gas-powered turbine. Crews could also see flames through vents on the structure's exterior.
The fire broke out at the Cascade Creek Substation in Rochester at 1814 7th St. Northwest.
Firefighters worked with RPU to secure gas and electrical services feeding the burning building and put out most of the fire by deploying copious amounts of water and firefighting foam, the news release says.
Crews then extinguished lingering hotspots. No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported.
The contents within the structure suffered heavy damage while the structure itself had minor to moderate damage, according to the fire department's news release.
The cause of the late-night industrial fire is not available.
Mayo Clinic Ambulance, the Rochester Police Department and Rochester Public Utilities also responded to the blaze.
