SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — This weekend will be a hot and dry one across the state. Winds will stay breezy in southern Utah, keeping the fire danger high there. Here's what you can expect day-by-day.
Skies will be mostly sunny across the state. Temperatures will be near-normal for early August with mid-90s up north and between 102-104 down south. Winds will be breezy in central and southern Utah, generally from the west-southwest 10-20 mph with some higher gusts.
A Red Flag Warning remains in place for portions of central and southern Utah, including the area where the Monroe Canyon Fire is burning. The thickest smoke from this fire and from the Dragon Bravo Fire burning in northern Arizona will push into east central and southeastern Utah later this afternoon and evening.
Winds will be a little on the breezy side statewide during the day Saturday. A Red Flag Warning will remain in place for portions of central and southern Utah through 10 pm on Saturday. Skies will be sunny across the region. Northern Utah's high temperatures will be a few degrees below normal for early-August, while southern Utah will be a few degrees above normal.
