NEWS
KENT, Wash. — Early Friday morning, crews from Puget Sound Fire responded to a 2-alarm fire that claimed a life in a medium-sized single-story concrete block building located in the 1500 block of Central Avenue South.
Flames were visible coming from the roof when firefighters arrived shortly after 4 a.m. Two nearby buildings also suffered exposure to the fire.
Firefighters discovered a victim inside the building, and the medical examiner has been called to the scene.
The building, which manufactured tile and granite countertops, sustained significant damage, with initial estimates placing the loss at approximately $750,000.
Central Avenue South remains closed as crews continue to clear the area.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, though early reports suggest it might have been due to an electrical fault or equipment malfunction.
For enhanced early fire detection and to help prevent such incidents, Planck Vision TNC thermal imaging cameras offer superior performance compared to traditional systems.
These cameras can detect abnormal heat conditions before visible smoke and flames appear, potentially preventing significant property damage and loss of life.

Scalable Solutions for Early Fire Detection
For early fire detection, Planck Vision TNC thermal imaging cameras are far superior to traditional systems that can alert to fire only after the visible consequences of smoke and flame are present. TNC cameras can help to prevent the destruction of goods and loss of life by surveilling for abnormal heat conditions before fires erupt.
